MIL-DTL-14067C
alternate or additional methods and equipment to specify, characterize, and analyze size. Such
analysis techniques may include:
a. Gravitational sedimentation (see ASTM B761 and ISO 10076)
b. Microscopy (see ISO 13322 and BS 3406-4)
c. Laser diffraction (see ASTM B882 and ISO 13320)
Those who are interested in alternate characterization techniques are cautioned that analysis and
results from one technique are generally not directly comparable to other techniques due to
numerous factors including particle morphology, measurement technique, etc. Beneficial
information may be found on alternate techniques from the National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) Special Publication 960-1, Recommended Practice Guide on Particle Size
Characterization, available at https://www.nist.gov.
