DETAIL SPECIFICATION
MAGNESIUM POWDER - FOR USE IN AMMUNITION
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of
Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers powdered magnesium suitable for use in
ammunition.
1.2 Classification. Magnesium powder is of the following types, grades, and
granulations:
1.2.1 Type (see 6.6).
Type I - Flaked and/or chipped.
Type II - Oblong chip with rounded edges.
Type III - Granular or spheroidal (atomized).
