COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION INSECTICIDE, NAPHTHALENE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers naphthalene for use as a fumigant against fabric pests, primarily clothes moths. Naphthalene shall not be used in conjunction with paradichlorobenzene, which is also used as a fumigant against fabric pests.
2. CLASSIFICATION Class A - Balls
Class B - Flakes
Class C - Chips
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Intended use. The naphthalene shall be an effective fumigant against fabric eating pests and be registered as such with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
3.2 Product concentration. The product shall contain a minimum concentration of 99.0 percent naphthalene, by weight.
